The Leibster Award

The Liebster Award

So I was nominated for this award by Hannah (ohhelloitshannah.blogspot.com) and to be honest I have not really got any idea of what it is. I just know that you ask and answer questions and stuff.. Anyway, here are the rules:

Rules:

1. List 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
3. Ask 11 new questions to the bloggers that you nominate for the award.
4. Choose bloggers with 200 followers or less to nominate.
5. Go to each bloggers page that you have nominated and tell them you have nominated them for the award.
6. Thank the person that nominated you for the award.

11 Facts About Me:

1. Ed Sheeran in my favorite man on earth
2. I'm from Scotland
3. I live horses and spend a lot of time with them, just wish I had one
4. I have a major girl crush on Regina Spektor
5. I'm really small for my age but have pretty big feet
6. I've seen Jedward in concert.. Yep
7. Eggs are my favorite food in the world
8. I've recently got into blogging and love it
9. I adore everything from Lush
10. I HATE painting my nails so so much
11. My favorite time of the year is Christmas

Questions I've Been Given by Hannah:

1. Why did you want to start writing a blog? Well, I was really bored one night and I had been reading Zoe (zoella.co.uk)'s blog and really enjoying it! I didn't have much to do so I thought I would just do the same: start a beauty/lifestyle blog! I really enjoy it though!

2. Where do you love to shop for clothes the most! I'm not really a clothes shopper to be honest but I really like H&M because its really inexpensive and the clothes are very nice. I also like New Look and I sometimes shop in Hollister but I don't really have a favourite.

3. Current favourite item in your wardrobe? I recently bought a denim jacket from Topshop in the sales which I really love! I also like cosy things like oversized cardigans and stuff but I really like this jacket and will get a lot of use out of it in the spring and summer months.

4. Favourite makeup brand? Hm, I think I'm a Maybelline person. I love all the mascaras that I have tried from them and I always buy my foundation from their. I find the quality of their products really good and they do what the say they will. I'm thinking about trying out some Revlon products soon though, see what i think :)

5. Drugstore or high end makeup products? I'm definitely a drugstore makeup buyer as I find the products much less expensive and often just as good quality. Don't get me wrong, I like quite a few high end makeup products and brands such as Benefit but I shop at the drugstore (or whatever we call it in Britain) more often.

6. Favourite blogger(s) of all time? I obviously love Zoella's blogs as she was the inspiration for mine but its a shame because she doesn't post that often. I also love Elle+Blair's blog (elleandblair.com) because they upload new posts really regularly and I love reading them.

7. If you could get on a plane and travel any place in the world of your choice, where would you go? This one's hard, I would love to go to Australia but I would also really like to visit places like New York and California, can't decide on one though!

8. Films or books? Hm.. I love reading books and I feel as though I can get really attatched to them and never want to put them down, however, I don't always have time to read a book and I often find it difficult starting them. I also love watching movies but when they bring out a movie which was originally a book, it's never as good.

9. Who is your celebrity crush? Ed Sheeran. End of.

10. What's your most go-to beauty/makeup related product? Well, I use Aveeno moisturiser everyday and adore it along with my Arran Aromatics facial cleanser (I have talked about both in depth in my 2012 favourites), however, my go-to product at the moment is probably my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the colour Honey, which I purchased about a week ago and have worn it everyday since because I really like the natural colour, the amount of time it stays on for and how it doesn't dry out my lips.

11. Favourite perfume? I love the Ted Baker Eau De Toilette for Women but I'm pretty sure they it's been discontinued it.. it has/had a really sweet scent but it was also quite musky which was really nice.

Bloggers I've Nominated:

  • chichi98.blogspot.co.uk
  • justanotherprettyblog.blogspot.co.uk
  • daisybelle-x.blogspot.co.uk
Love all 3 of these blogs and have been reading them a lot recently! Defenitely have a look at them!

My 11 Questions:

1. Favourite singer/group?
2. Favourite makeup brand?
3. Current favourite song?
4. Favourite place to shop?
5. Favourite YouTuber?
6. Most worn item of clothing this month?
7. Go-to makeup/beauty item?
8. Highend or drugstore?
9. Favourite blogger?
10. Favourite shower/bath item?
11. Why did you begin your blog?

Sorry for the pretty bad questions! Thank you again for nominating me Hannah, and definitely go read her blog, it's really good: ohhelloitshannah.blogspot.com

Sorry for not posting much lately, I have a few ideas for new posts so they will hopefully be up quite soon xo

Everyday Makeup Routine

Everyday Makeup Routine

So I've sort of adapted a makeup look which is really easy and quick for school and I've been wearing it a lot over the past couple of weeks. I really like this look and it's very simple to do so I thought I would share it with you :)

(I don't use the big palette at the back, that's just where I keep it)

The first thing I do is apply a bit of Cherry Carmex to my lips to keep them from cracking and going dry if I'm planning on wearing lipstick that day, however, for this look I don't tend to unless I feel like adding a little pop of colour to my lips. Applying any lip balm is a habbit and I do it anyway before I apply any makeup in the morning, even if I'm not wearing any lip products that day.

The next thing I apply is this Maybelline Super Stay 24h in the colour 030 Sand. I love this foundation for its medium/full coverage and its long lasting formula. I use my fingers to apply this product all over my face but particularly focussing it in the center to give me the fullest coverage around my nose area.

I then go on to using this Collection 2000 Pressed Powder in the colour 3 Translucent. This powder is great as it is very fine and keeps your makeup lasting even longer! I use a big fluffy brush to sweep this all over my face on top of my foundation to give me a matte finish and to keep my makeup on.

I then use an eye primer on my eyelids before moving on to my eyeshadow. The first thing I use is this 17 Eyes in the shade Statuesque. This is a really pretty shimmery purple/brown colour which looks quite natural once applied. I use a soft domed shaped brush to sweep this colour across my eyelids but not going past my crease or too far into my inner corner.

Using a slightly fluffier brush, I use this light brown colour from my BH Cosmetics 120 Colour Palette 2nd Edition in the crease. This colour really goes with the purpley colour I used on my lid and once blended in, can look really natural. I like to apply a bit into the very end of my brush and sweep the colour back and forth across my crease, making sure it's blended in to create a gradual flow from one colour to the next.

Using this deep brown shade from the same palette, I use the same brush as I did for the purpley colour to dab a little bit of this colour into the outer corner, dragging it up about a quarter way through my crease and then using the fluffier brush to blend it out. This should give your eyes more depth and definition without them looking too dramatic.

In the inner corner, I apply this pretty champagne colour again from the BH palette to make my eyes look brighter and more awake. I use the domed brush again to dab a little bit of colour into my inner corner and then blending it up slightly so that it meets the other colours on my lid. I also apply a little bit of this colour just under my eyebrow on my browbone to highlight that area. I then blend all the colours out so that there is no harsh lines.

To make my eyes look even bigger, I apply Maybelline Illegal Length mascara to my upper and lower lashes. This mascara is amazing and makes your eyelashes look long and thick without clumping them up (which is never attractive). It also had little fibres in it which stick to the ends of your lashes, making them look really long!

Last but not least, I apply Benefit's Coralista blush to the apples of my cheeks using a fluffy blush brush. I love the coral colour of this blush, giving a natural flush of colour to your cheeks that is great for a natural, everyday look. I blend this onto my cheeks making sure I don't go too near my nose or eye area but dragging it up slightly to my temples so that the colour flows.

The finished look (sorry for the awful picture)

I hope you try out this look for yourself and I recommend all of the products mentioned. I you want to try this out just use whatever makeup you can find, as you can buy similar colours to the eyeshadows anywhere and you can just use whatever blusher or mascara etc. that you have x

Lush Review

Lush 'Buffy' Body Butter

So I just thought I would do a quick review on Lush's body butter 'Buffy'. Buffy is such a great product from Lush which I have grown to love! It's a really strange product because its a solid bar and it's also a great exfoliator. The little bar is filled with things such as ground almonds, rice and aduki beans and the product itself is made mainly from Shea butter and cocoa butter with some essential oils for the beautiful scent of citrus.
I especially love to use this before shaving to remove all the dead skin from my legs. I rub the bar all over my legs and then use my hand to scrub away at my skin with the little pieces of rice and almonds that it leaves. I then rinse this off and shave my legs as usual. When I'm out of the shower I pat my legs dry with a towel and find that I don't have to use a moisturiser afterwards because its that moisturising! I do find, however, that it does sometimes leave a bit of an oily residue on your skin afterwards but it soon sinks in, leaving your skin feeling really smooth. It also leaves you smelling really fresh of citrus with a hint of lavender and the scent lingers all day. I probably wouldn't recommend this product to people with really sensitive skin as the ground beans, rice and almonds are very rough and really scrub away at your skin, but to me it doesn't hurt. I love this product and for only £5.95/90g (like mine) and £10.25/200g it's definitely worth the money!

If you found this review helpful then please let me know if you would like anymore like this x

2012 Beauty Favourites

2012 Beauty Favourites

It's taken me a while but I have finally got round to blogging my 2012 favourites. 2012 was quite a good year when it came to makeup and beauty as it was the first year I really started investing in proper makeup of my own. This took me ages and it was a really difficult decision on what to include but I limited myself to only a few items so that this wouldn't be  t o o  l o n g  :)

Face and Body Favourites

Snow Fairy- Snow fairy is a limited edition Lush shower gel which I adore because of the pretty colour and sweet scent. It smells like bubblegum with a hint of banana and if you look carefully, there are tiny blue glitters in it which make it very cool! The scent lingers for a few hours too, which is a bonus.
Arran Aromatics Lavender and Tea Tree Facial Scrub- This scrub is really refreshing and has tiny pieces of 'loofa' in it and to be honest I have no idea what that is but it does very gently exfoliate your face. I love to use in the morning because it really wakes me up! It also does a really good job at removing excess oils from your skin and the scent of lavender and tea tree is really fresh too.
Aveeno Cream- This product is in my favourites due to a facial rash. Gross, I know, but a few weeks ago I got a rash all over the lower half of my face which was very itchy and red. I went to the doctors and I was given medicated hydrocortisone cream which I could use twice a day and then the aveeno cream to use regularly throughout the day. Within about three or four days the rash was less red and wasn't itchy at all and within a week it had gone completely. This cream is really good, the only down side is that it smells funny, aha!

Haircare Favourites

TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray- I love to spray this heat protectant all over my hair about 5 minutes before blowdrying or straitening and then style my hair as usual. It leaves my hair feeling super soft and looking shiny for days after and the smell lingers for ages! It sort of smells like a hairdressers if you get me?
Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo- This product was really strange to me after only using dry shampoo in a spray form.. this is a powder! I found it so strange but it works really well, leaving next to no white/grey tinge to your hair, removes a lot of extra oils and it provides loads of volume. It also has a beautiful fresh citrussy scent which leaves your hair feeling and smelling freash and clean.
Alberto Balsalm Intensive Conditioning Treatment- I love this product and use it in the shower after I've shampooed my hair. I tend to leave it in for 3-5 minutes if possible and then rinse it out with warm water. It leaves my hair very silky, smooth, shiny and tangle free! It also has a lovely smell of honey and almonds which lingers for the whole day.

Cheeks, Face and Lips Favourites

Maybelline COLORSensational in 143 Pink Fizz- This lipstick is perfect for everyday as the colour is a pretty pink but is not too bright. It also applies really smoothly and doesn't dry your lips out which is really important to me when buying lip products. The colour lasts for quite  long time too but will fade when eating or drinking etc.
Big Fluffy Kabuki Brush- Sadly, I have no idea what make this brush is as I got it in my stocking this Christmas an threw out the packaging.. oops! It's a really good brush though and it's HUGE so you can quickly sweep on powder as one stroke covers a large area of your face. It also has really soft bristles (or hairs?) so I love it!
Benefit Coralista Blush- I think this is my all time favourite blusher and I have purchased it twice. It has a really pretty corally/pink colour with the perfect colour pigmentation making it easy to apply without overdoing it. The colour stays on your cheeks for ages which makes it perfect or everyday use. Weird as it sounds, it smells amazing! Definitely the best smelling blusher in the world, aha!
Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour Foundation in 030 Sand- Early this year, I moved on from the Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse Foundation to the 24 Hour liquid one. It was strange at first but I've grown to really love it. It isn't as full coverage as the mousse but I don't really have bad skin which I need to cover completely so this is perfect! It also stays put for a very long time which is perfect for day and night! I wouldn't say quite 24 hours though!

Eye Makeup Favourites

BH Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner- I recently got in to using felt tip eyeliners and I really love them! This one is perfect as it lasts all day and is easy to apply with a nice thin tip. It is also very difficult to smudge and doesn't tend to run although it is not waterproof.

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara- I LOVE THIS MASCARA. Maybelline mascaras in general are fantastic and every time I try out a new one, it's better than the one before! This one in particular I found through my mum and I adore it! It has a nice thin and flexible brush which coats all the lashes evenly without clumps. I love this mascara so much!

17 Eyes in Statuesque- If you are familiar with the brand 17, you may know they often do great offers. I got this eye shadow in a set I got for free after spending a certain amount of money on 17 products and ever since, it's been my go to eye shadow! It has a pretty pinky/purpley/bronzey colour which goes really well with a dark brown in the crease. I adore this colour!

BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette 2nd Edition- This is definitely the most exciting beauty item I have bought this year and I  l o v e  i t ! I got it shipped from the US and I was so happy when it arrived with none of the shadows cracked. I love the variety of bright, neutral, shimmery and matte shadows and they all have an amazing colour pigment! Probably my best investment of 2012!

So that's it, just some of the amazing products I love in 2012! I recommend all of them and you should definitely try them out if you get the chance x

Christmas at Lush

Lush

So... I'm a major Lush junkie! I have so many Lush products and I absolutely ADORE THEM. I'll probably do quite a few Lush reviews and stuff when I try out new products. I went into my local store the other day while the Christmas half price sale was on and I purchased a few items! I was so excited by the unbelievably cheap items, I could of bought the whole shop! Sadly I was with my friend who only gave me 5 minutes in the shop before she dragged me to Topshop (where I ended up buying a really pretty denim jacket in the sales for £10!)

So the first product I bought was 'Magic Wand' a pretty pink star-shaped reusable bubble bar on a stick made to look like a magic wand! It has the most beautiful scent, very sweet and girly, and smells just like 'Snow Fairy' shower gel or 'Rockstar' soap. The bubble bar produces the most beautiful smelling bubbles and it can be used up to 6 times! The usual price for this product is £4.95 but seeing as its a Christmas item only and I bought it in the after-Christmas sale, I purchased it for only £2.40! I definitely recommend buying it next Christmas if you have the chance.

The second thing I bought was a beautiful product called 'Mr Punch' a very fruity and festive smelling soap. It also has a splash of gin in it too! I love the scent of it and I got a pretty large chunk of it (100g) for only £1.88 (full price is £3.75). I've not tried this out yet but I'm sure it will lather up well like all their other soaps and I may do a review once I've tried it out.

The next product that I bought is a huge bath bomb called 'So White'. I believe this is a 'slow fizzer' -meaning it takes a long time to fizz away into the depths of your bathtub- and doesn't really change the colour of the water that much although the inside happens to be pink. You are meant to throw this ballistic against the side of your bath and and let it smash into the water, although I have not tried this myself! The scent of this product is beautiful and smells just like sweet apples! The full price of this product is £3.20 and I may do a review on it once I have tried it out.

Last but not least, I bought 'Snow Fairy'- a Lush bestseller at Christmas time! This is a beautiful shower gel which smells just like 'Magic Wand' and 'Rockstar' soap with (to me) a slight hint of bananas! It is a bright pink gel that has tiny blue glitters in it. It lathers up so well and the scent lingers for a few hours! The price varies depending on what size of bottle you purchase starting at £3.50/100g, £6.25/250g and £10.25/500g.

I hope you try out some of the products I have mentioned in this review thingy and if you didn't have the chance this year, you should try to get your hands on some of the Lush Christmas products next year! X

Yankee Candle Addiction!

Yankee Candles!

So I've gotten really into candles lately and for Christmas, my older sister got me a huge marmte jar ornament with 3 little Yankee candles inside in the scents Black Cherry, Warm Spice and Spiced Orange. I burned Black Cherry first and the tiny candle lasted me more than a week and the Christmassy scent lingered in my room forever! When I was next in the Yankee Candle shop nearest me, I went in and bought four more delicious scents in Kitchen Spice, Mango Peach Salsa, Sweet Strawberry and Sparkling Lemon. As I had finished Black Cherry, I moved onto Kitchen Spice, another one with a really warm scent. Anyway, I definitely reccomend Yankee candles as they burn really slow and they last for ages but they fill your room with a really nice fragrance which lingers for ages :)

New Year

Happy new year!

So for Hogmanay this year, I went to my friends house near the Edinburgh castle to watch the fireworks. From their window, you have an amazing view of princess street and it was mobbed! It looked like millions of tiny people all squashed into one pretty small street, although the atmosphere was great. At 11:59 we went onto the balcony all ready to watch the fireworks and before long, we could hear the whole city counting down from 10. When they got to 1, the beautiful fireworks started and lasted for a good 5-10 minutes! They were amazing to watch and the loud bangs were shaking the balcony! Above is one of the (many!) pictures I took on New Year :)

As usual, I didn't set a New Years resolution. In primary we used to be forced to make one at the start of term but I would never achieve it or stick by it. Instead, I like to see where life takes me, without any little aims for the year. Of course I have things I would like to achieve throughout the year such as good grades and to be a better person, but nothing really in particular, just general goals.

I hope the new year brings everyone good health and happiness and that is just as good (if not better) than the last :) x

Just thought of a New Years resolution: I'm going to start a blog
